Selection Center, South – Bangalore/Bengaluru
Bangalore Board or Selection Center South has three Boards which are 12 SSB, 17 SSB and 24 SSB. The first Selection board i.e 12 SSB was raised on April 1, 1949 which now shortlists candidates for Army and Navy. An additional board, 24 SSB was raised in December 1962 and the third board 17 SSB was shifted from Roorkee in March 1976. The Selection Centre is headed by a Major General who is also the President of 17 SSB.
Bangalore now also pronounced as Bengaluru, is the capital of Indian state Karnataka. Bangalore fort was captured by the Britishers in 1791. Draped over the Deccan Plateau at an altitude of 949 meters (3113 ft.) above sea level, this gives Bengaluru possibly the best climate among all the cities in India. Dewans like Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir M Visveswaraya were the pioneers to help Bangalore attain its modern outlook. From then on, the city has grown in magnitudes, emerging into what you see and know of today. Bangalore is India’s fifth largest and the fastest growing city in Asia.
How To Reach Selection Center, Bangalore
Again, like previous two SSB centres, Bangalore is also easily accessible from various parts of the country.
Rail – The Indian Railways Network connects the city to the other parts of the country. Bangalore City Railway station is connected to almost all major parts of the country. The city is well connected to Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Indore, Hyderabad, Belgaum, Mysore, Hubli, Bhagalpur, Trivandrum, Tatanagar and Bhopal.
Road – Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation or BMTC controls public transport in the city. These buses connects various parts of the city.
Air – The Bengaluru International Airport has service of approximately all air carriers operating in the Country. There are frequent and daily service to and from Mumbai and Delhi.
