Selection Center, Central – Bhopal

Bhopal Board or Selection Center Central has 4 Boards which are 20 SSB, 21 SSB, 22 SSB and 33 SSB, the last board i.e. 33 SSB is for Indian Navy while previously mentioned three are for SSB Interview of Army. Every year the Centre shortlists numerous courageous and dynamic young candidates for inclusion in Army and Navy after tough training.

Bhopal Board is very well managed and organised. Candidates who have been to other SSBs will immediately feel the difference. It has a cyber cafe, a restaurant named Etopia and a canteen to fulfill needs of candidates. A big board on the gate reads a tagline “Always a Winner” is displayed to creates a sense of positivity among the candidates. The centre has a well-arranged mess, TV room, Motivational Hall and a Badminton court for candidates where they can play after testing hours.

In Bhopal too, like other SSB centres, a private cafe owner provides refreshment and snacks after the initial screening exam which seems to be free but you have to pay for it. So choice is yours to take it or not.

History

Selection Centre Bhopal was established in October 1975 by relocating 20 SSB & 33 SSB which was earlier located at Jabalpur and was raised on 15 Nov 1960 & 01 Jun 1966 respectively. Subsequently 22 SSB which was first raised and located at Meerut in Nov 1962, and subsequently re-raised at Roorkee in Apr 1971 moved to Bhopal in Mar 1976. The Centre functioned with three Boards till 01 Jun 2003 when a new board, 21 SSB was raised.

The Selection Centre Central is located in the area of Sultania Infantry Lines, Bhopal Military Station which is in close proximity to both Bhopal Junction railway station as well as Raja Bhoj Airport. The Centre is housed in the new KLP accommodation and stands out due to the imposing architectural design of the main building. The Selection Centre today boasts of a completely new infrastructure with modern facilities for the conduct of testing, accommodation, dining and recreational facilities for the candidates.

How To Reach Selection Center, Central

Bhopal is also among one of the cities in our country easily accessible from various parts.

Rail – Bhopal Junction Railway station is almost connected to all part of the country except North-Eastern region. Almost 150 trains daily stops at Bhopal Jn. some of the popular trains are Bhopal Shatabdi Express, Shaan-e-Bhopal Express, Bhopal-Indore AC Double Decker Intercity Express, Bhopal Express and Grand Trunk Express.

Road – National Highway 12 passes through the city which connects Bhopal to Jabalpur and Jaipur. State Highway 17 links Bhopal with Indore. There are Daily buses to Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, Kota, Shirdi, Jaipur, Nagpur, Pune, Vadodara, Jalgaon, Amravati, Nashik and Surat.

Air – The Raja Bhoj Airport has service of Air India, Jet Airways, JetLite and SpiceJet which connects the city to Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and to various other destinations.
