Naval Selection Board (NSB), Coimbatore
Like Air Force, Indian Navy also started running its own self-controlled & self-administered selection boards to cater to the increasing needs of candidates applying for Navy. First of its kind, NSB or Naval Selection Board is situated at INS Agrani, Red Fields of Coimbatore. This Selection Board shortlists potential candidates for Indian Navy.
This board usually conducts SSB Interviews for the candidates opting for Indian Navy as first preference. Generally the candidates for 10+2 Tech Entry for Navy are called for interview at NSB.
Coimbatore (கோயம்புத்தூர்), also known as Kovai is a major city of Tamilnadu. The Coimbatore region played a prominent role in the Second Poligar War (1801) when it was the area of operations of Dheeran Chinnamalai. In 1804, Coimbatore was established as the capital of the newly formed Coimbatore district and in 1866 it was accorded municipality status with Robert Stanes as its Chairman.

Road – There are three National Highways in the city NH-47, NH-67 and NH 209. Coimbatore bypass is a series of bypasses connecting the various National Highways and State Highways passing through and originating from Coimbatore. There are 7 arterial roads in the city which are Avinashi road, Satyamangalam road, Trichy road, Mettupalayam road, Pollachi, Pallakad road and Marudhamalai road.
Air – Coimbatore International Airport is situated at Peelamedu which is 15 Kms away from the city. Airport has flights to major cities of India including Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. As of 2014-15, the airport was the 15th largest airport in India in terms of total aircraft movement.
